The Mission’s Education Assistance Programme was set up to help deserving students from low-income families in their education needs, with cash awards being disbursed to recipients from various primary and secondary schools. In 2014, almost S$70,000 was awarded to more than 350 students from the Yishun, Sembawang, Marsiling and Woodlands areas.
Motivating Youth with Needs
The Bursary scheme will be enhanced to include regular check-ins with the students to motivate them. The Mission is also planning to introduce a mentoring programme for at-risk youth, as well as recreational activities such as cultural music and dance.
Scholarship for Nursing Students
We have also partnered with Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Simei to increase awareness of scholarships to deserving students pursuing ITE NITEC courses in Nursing. This scholarship programme aims to benefit students from financially-strained families who are performing well in school and have the potential to excel in continued education. The recipients of the scholarship will also be given the opportunity to work with the Mission for about a year after the completion of their education.
This service and the provision of our other such welfare services are made possible through the generosity of our donors. Join us in giving support to those who are in need.
