Assistant Superintendent (Welfare Home)

The Assistant Superintendent shall assist the Superintendent in all matters related to the welfare of the home. This encompasses all residents under his charge and in line with the provisions set out by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).

The Asst. Superintendent must ensure the Home is run properly and that all residents are treated fairly and with respect and dignity.

Job Description & Requirements

  • Ensures that all residents of the Home receive proper attention and support for their needs and requirements.
  • Assists the Home’s Superintendent and supports his interaction with external parties and stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance and adherence to all processes pertaining to Sree Narayana Mission (SNM) (Singapore) & MSF Licensing criteria under the Social Residential Home Act (SRHA).
  • Ensures that proper documentations are maintained for the activities and operations at the Home.
  • Is required to formulate and prepare proposals, tenders, and budgets to support the Home’s requirements.
  • Responsible for reviewing, analysing, and remedying or enhancing operations to overcome challenges the Home may face.
  • Able to maintain good housekeeping, conduct inspections, efficient reports, handle visitors, volunteers, families, and servicing agents etc.
  • Is required to compile and analyse monthly operation statistics for activity level and operation requirement.
  • Is familiar with IT and Data entry systems to provide monthly updates of Home improvements to the stakeholders.
  • Ensure that Home and its parameters are always kept clean according to standards provided the relevant authorities such as MSF, MOH and NEA.
  • Take immediate action and report of any incidents, accidents, or serious matters pertaining to residents of the Home, staff, or visitors.
  • That Superintendent and all staff are notified immediately of VIPs, Board of Visitors, Officers from various Government Ministries, authorities, and its agencies, and SNM Management.
  • Ensure that safety and security of the Home, its residents, and staff.
  • Familiar with the operations in event of Fire, Haze and Pandemic and act immediately.
  • Ensure that all staff are familiar with provisions of the Destitute Persons Act, the Rules and the Operations of the Home.
  • Perform any assignment as delegated by the Superintendent or any Management staff of the Home.
  • To cover the duties of the Superintendent during his/her absence.
  • To assist the Superintendent in the execution of Transition Support Package (TSP) under SRHA requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum Degree, preferably in Social Work or Psychology/Management/Business Administration.
  • At least 3 years experience in running a Welfare Home.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Effective Team leader and Active Team Player.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Have knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to VWO organisations.
  • 5 years and above of supervisory or management experience.
  • Have the compassion to help the vulnerable and less fortunate.
